In the event that a pressure hose is torn out of its press fitting, the hose-whip restraint prevents the end of the hose from whipping around in the surrounding environment in an uncontrolled manner. This is achieved using turnbuckles that are firmly connected to the hose, the machine fixing point and the wire rope (the hose fitting and press fitting form part of the machine fixing point). The wire rope must be long enough to allow for the hose to slip out of the press fitting (thus ensuring pressure relief)
